ORC-BATHROOM REFRESH

I did it! I started the One Room Challenge eight weeks ago, and I decided to remodel the kids’ bathroom. For reference, this is what the bathroom looked like to start! And I kept the cost below $1,000!

When I started this project, one thing I had to keep in mind is I did not have the time, energy, or budget for a full renovation of this space. One, time is not on my side. Between mom life and work life, the time and times of day I can dedicate to a project are limited. Two, this bathroom is right by the kids’ rooms and since they are still little, it wasn’t feasible to have the dust and noise of a full-blown renovation. The second reason is also why I painted the tile instead of installing new tile (which is my long-er term plan). I know painting tile is not ideal (and apparently somewhat controversial according to my DMs), especially in a bathroom. But I could not demo the tile when the baby still takes a nap twice a day and I just didn’t want that big of a mess at this life stage. Painting the tile allowed me to achieve the aesthetic I wanted for under $200 and minimal mess and labor. I did a lot of research and chose materials I hope will be durable. Stay tuned for an honest review of how it holds up.

Participating in the One Room Challenge allowed me to create a space I am proud of. But it was also an opportunity for me to grow and learn and create…. and, as the name says, challenge myself, which was very much needed for me personally. I’m so proud I completed this challenge and I am thrilled with the result. I am so happy I found the One Room Challenge and that I stuck with it!
